In our time together, you will have the opportunity to address what is of immediate concern for you, how it is affecting your day-to-day well-being, where this pattern or habit may have originated, and find ways to release and alter patterns that no longer serve you. I provide art therapy for anyone who seeks an alternate avenue for self-discovery and self-expression. Often through the use of image making, greater meaning and depth can be revealed. Verbal and traditional counseling and therapy techniques are an integral part of the work we will do together. Many times, being met in a space of understanding and compassion allows for greater self-awareness and self-care. My main focus for each individual is the evolution of the self toward wholeness through all of life's challenges.

Art Therapy

Individual Art Therapy / Art Psychotherapy

Art Therapy allows for the expression of feelings, conflicts and ideas through the use of art in the safety of the therapy setting. Many times we find words are not enough. Art Therapy allows for the processing of painful memories, thoughts and feelings and contains these aspects safely.
In the art therapy session, we make time for you to check in, to discuss what is most pressing, and have the opportunity to utilize art materials at the art table to further explore those ideas and feelings. Each person is unique and you will find your own way to express yourself through color, words and images. Even if you don't know how to draw, making art in the therapy session is healing, often providing greater insight and self-expression, and lessens symptoms. As you continue with art making you will find you have your own unique imagery, things that resonate and hold meaning for you.

Many people come to my practice specifically for art therapy, while others may choose to utilize it as part of the counseling and therapy session.

Confidential post graduate supervision for LPC approval and ATR; to support therapeutic practice, professional development and meet clinical supervision requirements.

I am a credentialed Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and provide clinical supervision in accordance with new state and national requirements.
I have many years of experience providing art therapy supervision and LPC Supervision, as well as working in inpatient, outpatient and day treatment settings.
I have worked in private practice since 1997 in conjunction with group programs and in hospital settings. I have managed expressive therapy treatment teams and been a member of many clinical teams.

Supervision will address your specific clinical setting, developing counseling and art therapy practices that meet the needs of clients you are serving.
Supervision will include discussions around the use of assessments, treatment planning, diagnosis, self-care practices, professional identity, transference and counter-transference and how this informs the therapy process, and art therapy interventions
Supervision is confidential
Supervision is provided virtually via Hipaa Compliant DoxyMe or in the office setting

Susan Slomski, MA, LPC, ACS, ATR-BC

Hello and Welcome-

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado (2000), and Board Certified Registered Art Therapist (2006/1992). I have been honored to work with many individuals and small groups over the years providing therapy, counseling and art therapy for adults, children and teens.
Currently, I offer individual sessions for adults 18 and older in private practice.

I currently accept BC/BS Anthem of Colorado, Cigna (Colorado), Sondermind, and Self-Pay.

My goal for each individual is to alleviate pain and restrictions, change patterns and move the self toward wholeness.

I hold a Master’s degree from Lesley College in Expressive Arts Therapy with concentration in Art Therapy. There I had the good fortune of working with Dr. Shaun McNiff, Dr. Thomas Moore, Paolo Knill, and Dr. Suzanne Canner-Hume. Following my graduate work, I began a working, supervisory relationship with Dr. Myra Levick, PhD, ATR-BC. Under Dr. Levick’s supervision and guidance, I developed a passion for Art Therapy Assessment, in particular, Dr. Levick’s The Levick Emotional and Cognitive Art Therapy Assessment. I became a practitioner and teacher of The LECATA, and similarly, the Silver Draw-A-Story Art Therapy Assessment developed by Dr. Rawley Silver, with whom I dialogued about her assessment and it’s applications and findings.

Since 2005, I have been providing clinical supervision to art therapists and professional counselors working toward licensing, registration and certification, and those interested in continued professional development.

I have many years of experience and successfully work with people healing from grief and loss, healing unresolved childhood trauma, unhealthy relationship patterns, poor self-esteem, illness or injury, emotional challenges, difficulty identifying and expressing feelings, highly sensitive, gifted and talented and those on the autism spectrum. I have assisted those in recovery address unresolved inner conflict so that they might live more freely in sobriety as well as those with schizophrenia. I work with the LGBTQ community.

I provide Art based Assessment and evaluations and art therapy supervision when additional, non-verbal diagnostic information is needed. In some cases, clients may draw or create art at intake. I am available to consult on these images to provide clear diagnostic information.I am an approved clinical supervisor.

What is Art Therapy and Expressive Art

New Credentials, New Website

Approved Clinical Supervisor

I am happy to announce I am now a credentialed Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) through the CCE Credentialing Board.

This is good news because many states, as in Colorado, now require clinical supervisors to have completed 45 credit hours of training in clinical supervision that covers a wide range of topics and learning areas, or, attend a CCE approved 45 credit course. Ultimately that is what I chose to do although I had other credits accrued for training in clinical supervision. I chose the NCU Greensboro course through their Department of Counseling and Education Development. It was very well done, excellent training videos. Once that was completed, I applied through CCE for the Credentials of Approved Clinical Supervisor, which requires the completion of the course as well as years of experience and years of previous supervision. Those who choose to work with me in supervision will know we meet new state requirements.

With the new credentials I also updated the website a bit. I want people to know that professional counseling and art therapy are offered here. I hope the new look is helpful. Thank you for checking in. As always - Best, Susan
